I am going to do a day hiking with a friend in Cevennes, France, when I was there for a little vacation. I follow the trail that runs along the ridge, overlooking the lake on one side, and Villefort (which is a French commune, located in the department of Lozere in Occitania region) on the other, to the cross of Gratassac. I wanted to give it a try with my camera equipment, with a backpack.

For the backpack, I’m going to buy one in a store of a large sports store chain. I took a 50 l backpack. with a large opening at the front which makes accessible the overall interior of the bag. 40 euros (42 $), it is not very expensive, for a test.

I can put inside my blackmagic pocket cinema camera with its rig installed, with the Atomos Ninja 2, and my camera Canon and its different lens, with protections. And I still have room for my equipment hiking staff…

Everything works fine. Except when we are accompanied (or in group), the others do not wait and continue to walk. So I carried out the whole trail at the race pace trying to catch up with my partner. Apart from the equipment and materials, we must be in excellent physical condition.
