Brest 2016, the second day of my visit to the International Maritime Festival

For the second day of my visit, I am staying a little outside the festival, from the top of the ramparts of Brest. I had a great opportunity to live this festival. I have going by the castle of Brest, then cross the famous bridge to join the Recouvrance district.

I settled behind the Tanguy Tower, facing the castle to wait for the sunset. In France, the summer sun sets very late. Meanwhile, I was able to chat with other photographers who were at the scene.

The bridge of Recouvrance is a bridge raising the penfeld, in Brest. Dominating the arsenal and the military port, it connects the bottom of the street of Siam to the district of Recouvrance, replacing the revolving bridge (National bridge) destroyed in 1944 by the allied bombardments. Inaugurated on July 17, 1954, it was for a long time the largest lifting bridge in Europe. Each pylon is 70 m high. The current mobile span (installed in 2011), with a length of 88 m and a width of 15 m, weighs 625 tons.

This Pont has been recently renovated. It is beautiful, day and night. You can walk, by car or by tram, the view of the Tanguy Tower, the cable car and the Capuchins is splendid !

Facing the castle, there was the French frigate Hermione. His stopover in Brest last summer was a real triumph, an avantgo Of Brest 2016: the return of this replenishment. Of the frigate which, in 1780, allowed La Fayette to join the Insurgents fighting for their independence promises to be Also majestic. The Hermione is a 32-gun Concorde-class frigate fitted for 12-pounder guns, completed in Rochefort by the Asselin organisation in 2014. She is a reproduction of the 1779 Hermione, which achieved fame by ferrying General Lafayette to the United States in 1780 to allow him to rejoin the American side in the American Revolutionary War.
