Naves les Vans a village of character in Ardeche

I had heard of a pretty village near the town of Vans, in Ardeche. Also, that I had a free moment, I went there

I parked at the entrance of the village Naves because the cars are not allowed to enter the village of Naves. Naves is a pedestrian village. Parking is located along the road under the entrance. Located on a rocky overhang framed by wild hills or planted with olive trees, vineyards and chestnut trees, the small village of Naves offers to its discovery its Romanesque church,

The village of Naves is a few kilometers west of Les Vans, near the southeastern border of the Ardèche. The village is classified as a village of characere of Ardeche. Naves does not exist as a commune name – Naves is part of Les Vans, a bigger town in the Ardèche. Thus, in the travel guides, sometimes called Les Vans (Naves) – so that visitors know that they are separate entities a few kilometers away.

Located on a rocky overhang framed by wild hills or planted with olive trees, vineyards and chestnut trees, the small village of Naves offers to its discovery its Romanesque church, narrow passages in the village through very picturesque houses, with plants and flowers from all the available spaces. Its paved winding paths, its cevenol architecture, the ruins of its 12th century castle in a sublime setting.

Most of the way ends on the small square in front of the pretty little church of Naves – an attractive place with steep terraces that descend under the hill.

There is also a “Botanical Trail” that follows at the back of the village, a chance to see and enjoy some of the surrounding landscape and enjoy the regional plants and flowers. To find it turn right after your entrance to Naves.
